Biden delegates authority over Ukraine support law to Treasury and State Department
US President Joe Biden has transferred his authority over the Ukraine Support Act to the US Treasury and State Departments, according to the White House.
Biden delegates to US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Secretary of State Antony Blinken his functions and powers under certain sections of the Restoring Economic Prosperity and Opportunity for Ukrainians Act.
This law, previously adopted in the United States, provides, among other things, for the possibility of confiscating frozen Russian assets for the restoration of Ukraine.
On July 21, Biden announces that he is not running for re-election. Instead of himself, he proposed Vice President Kamala Harris as a candidate for the US presidency.
Following the news, some Republicans called on Biden to resign early. However, on July 22, he announced that he would remain President of the United States until the end of his term. Biden published the statement on X.
