US participation in Peace Summit
Blinken emphasized that his country supports the peace summit, and Washington is confident in the success of the initiative.
"We will be robustly represented there. I don't have any announcements to make on that, except to say we are working on that to make sure we support a really important initiative and this produces real results," the Secretary of State said.
Biden and Zelenskyy may meet
According to the head of the State Department, Ukraine and the United States may sign a security agreement in the coming weeks. He also confirms that the leaders of the two countries will sign the document.
In turn, Kuleba noted that specific dates for visits of foreign officials to Ukraine or Ukrainian officials abroad are not announced for obvious reasons.
"But President Zelenskyy and President Biden have a trusting dialog. And I am confident that they will have the opportunity to discuss all the issues in detail and sign this agreement (on security commitments - ed.)," the Ukrainian minister added.
Agreement on security assurances
Ukraine and the United States continue negotiations to sign a bilateral agreement on security commitments. Several rounds of negotiations have taken place over the past month.
The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, said there was progress in the dialogue. He also said that the agreement was expected to be finalized this month.
As President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed, the agreement with the United States is to be the strongest of all those signed before. The document will provide for the transfer of weapons, financial assistance, and joint production of weapons.
