Belarusian President Lukashenko says EU should unite with Russia

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko wants the European Union to cooperate with Russia, BelTA reports.
"They should not butt heads with us, but join forces. The European Union and Russia. If that power were united... Of course, the Americans would never allow it. That would be terrifying for them. More terrifying than China. If we were united, that would be real power," Lukashenko said.
He also criticized EU leaders, calling them "lame ducks" (politicians nearing the end of their terms). According to Lukashenko, European citizens don't like their policies.
Lukashenko uses migrants against the EU
Notably, while making statements about friendship with the EU, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is attempting to pressure the bloc with the help of illegal migrants from Africa, the Middle East, and Afghanistan.
According to Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service, he is trying to use migrants as a tool of geopolitical influence.
In particular, Lukashenko is using Belarusian territory to facilitate the transit of illegal migrants into Poland.
A similar crisis unfolded in 2021, when Lukashenko sent large numbers of migrants to the EU border.
