Belarusian leader makes cynical Independence Day statement to Ukraine

Self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko made a cynical statement on Ukraine’s Independence Day. He wished Ukrainians a "peaceful sky."
"To live nearby in peace and harmony has, from ancient times, been the destiny of the Belarusian and Ukrainian peoples. Close coexistence has established indissoluble blood ties between our peoples, reinforced by a shared historical fate, shared Christian values, and sincere friendship," he stated.
Lukashenko assured that Belarus remains open to Ukrainians, "no matter how external forces pull in different directions."
The self-proclaimed president claims that Belarus is set on "mutually beneficial cooperation and constructive dialogue with southern neighbors."
"From the bottom of my heart, I wish the citizens of Ukraine to find their own response to today’s challenges, and to your multinational country – a peaceful sky, solidarity, and truly independent development," reads the statement.
Belarus assists Russia
It is worth noting that Belarus has been helping the Russian regime since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine. Russian troops, aviation, and other equipment are stationed on Belarusian territory.
In addition, Lukashenko claimed about the alleged deployment of Russian nuclear weapons and Oreshnik missiles on Belarusian territory.
As is known, Russia and Belarus will conduct the military exercises Zapad-2025, which will take place from September 12 to 16, 2025.
Ukrainian border guards reported that hundreds of Russian servicemen arrived in Belarus for the exercises.
