Belgorod experienced series of explosions, fires reported
A series of explosions occurred early in the morning on September 2 in Belgorod, Russian Federation, as air defense systems responded to an attack. The explosions led to fires and structural damage, citing Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov and local social media channels.
According to a Russian official, air defense systems were activated in Belgorod and the surrounding areas.
"There were direct hits on a social and a commercial facility in the city of Belgorod. A vehicle also caught fire," said the governor.
He added that in the village of Dubovoye, two houses and four vehicles caught fire, and emergency services and firefighters were on the scene.
The Russian side, as usual, blames Ukraine for the attack. Russian media also reported that a kindergarten in Belgorod was among the damaged sites.
Additionally, footage of the attack and its aftermath in Belgorod and the surrounding areas has been circulated online.
Explosions in Belgorod and region
Earlier, on the evening of August 30, there were powerful explosions in Belgorod. Local authorities claimed that air defense systems were activated, and a shell directly hit the city.
On August 25, a large fire broke out in the Rakitnoye district of the Belgorod region, allegedly due to an attack. Reports also mentioned casualties.
On July 29, Russians reported a fire at a substation in the Belgorod region, supposedly due to a drone attack.
Previously, the Russian city of Belgorod was shelled on the night of July 9, and infrastructure was damaged as a result of attack.
