Russia complains about shelling of Belgorod and Shebekino

The Russian city of Belgorod came under fire on the night of July 9, resulting in infrastructure damage from the strikes. The Shebekinsky district in the region was also attacked, according to Russian media and local social media channels.
According to the Russian side, several private houses in Belgorod were reportedly damaged.
Russian propagandists have traditionally blamed Ukraine for the attack.
Before the strikes in the Belgorod region, there were reports of a missile threat. However, the local governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, announced the all-clear at 11:48 PM on his Telegram channel.
In a statement from Russia’s Unified State System for Emergency Prevention and Response (RSChS) after midnight, it was reported that shelling was ongoing in the Shebekinsky urban district, including the town of Shebekino.
Russian media reported several casualties, but the exact number is not specified. Additionally, the propagandist Telegram channel Readovka claimed that one person was killed.
Footage of the aftermath in Belgorod and Shebekino has been published online. The videos and photos show explosions, a column of smoke in a residential area in Belgorod's private sector, and other consequences of the nighttime attack.
Additionally, local channels report that part of the city of Shebekino has lost power.
Around 00:50, Governor Gladkov confirmed the propagandists' reports of one fatality and mentioned two injured individuals. The Russian official stated that the air defense system over Belgorod and the region had activated, allegedly shooting down several aerial targets approaching the city.
Regarding the aftermath of the shelling, he mentioned preliminary reports indicating that in Belgorod, windows were shattered in three private houses and 12 apartments in eight multi-story buildings. Additionally, two cars were damaged by shrapnel, and three commercial entities and two social facilities were also affected.
In the Belgorod district, after the air defense system intercepted the aerial attack from the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the roof of a private house in the village of Maysky was pierced, and a passenger car was damaged by fragments.

Earlier, it was reported that on the night of June 25, the Russian city of Belgorod came under drone attack. Additionally, it was revealed that in the Belgorod region, a drone destroyed a Russian military base located in an abandoned school building.
