What is the current condition of the stadium?
Despite the set date, the final return to the arena depends on obtaining several permits.
Barça has already submitted the necessary documents to the city council. The review may take approximately two weeks.
If all permits are granted in July, the team will be able to play the match at their home stadium in August.
Stadium of the future: what will change?
Renovation work at Camp Nou began in the summer of 2023.
One of the main goals was to increase the capacity to 105,000 spectators and modernize the infrastructure.
Thanks to the reconstruction, the arena will receive:
- the largest roof in Europe
- new VIP sections
- modern media zones
- eco-friendly technologies, including 18,000 square meters of solar panels
After August 10, the stadium will not be fully open as its capacity is temporarily limited to 60%. Full project completion is expected in 2026.
It is also noted that the stadium’s name, for which reconstruction will cost around 1.475 billion euros in total, will include the name of the club’s title sponsor – Spotify.
What happened before?
The Catalan club had hoped to return by the end of 2024, but numerous delays made that plan impossible. Later planned return dates in February and May were also missed.
All this time, the team has been playing home matches at the Olympic Stadium in Montjuïc, which has a capacity of 55,000 spectators.
