Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia completed their disconnection from the Russian power grid on February 8. The process was successful, LSM reports.

The Augstsprieguma tīkls company (Latvia) reports that the disconnection was successful, according to the publication.

The company’s homepage also clarifies that no issues have been found in Latvia's power grid after the disconnection.

The country’s Ministry of Climate and Energy has also confirmed the successful completion of the disconnection.

Currently, the Baltic states' operators – Elering (Estonia), Augstsprieguma tīkls (Latvia), and Litgrid (Lithuania) – have simultaneously launched isolated performance tests.

Baltic states' disconnection from Russia’s power grid

As reported earlier by RBC-Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia completed their disconnection from the Russian power grid on February 8. This marks the countries’ final break from Russia in the energy sector.

In particular, Estonia called on citizens to be prepared for potential power outages. Rescue services advised checking home supplies, ensuring medication availability, and considering alternative power sources and entertainment.

Meanwhile, the EU’s foreign affairs chief, Josep Borrell, stated that Russia can no longer use energy as a tool for blackmail.
