Upcoming peace talks regarding the full-scale war must guarantee Ukraine’s freedom and security. At the same time, the world cannot simply sit and wait for dialogue to happen, according to German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.

"Peace means that Ukraine's existence as a free and independent country is guaranteed. It means security guarantees," Baerbock said during a United Nations Security Council meeting.

The minister welcomed the fact that more partners are starting to consider how to end the war.

"But this cannot mean standing idly by while there is no end to the war in sight, and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin has not come to the negotiating table. We should not simply stand by and watch as Russia destroys the rest of Ukraine," she said.

Baerbock also drew attention to the forcible deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia. She said that according to Kyiv’s data, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has abducted at least 19,500 children, and fewer than 400 have returned home.

"We will not rest until the children are back with their families," the minister added.

Ukraine’s victory plan

This month, in September, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to present Ukraine’s peace plan for victory to US President Joe Biden, as well as to two presidential candidates (Donald Trump and Kamala Harris).

As reported by the media, the plan includes five key points, along with specific figures and volumes of military aid. According to Zelenskyy, the initiative aims to force Russia into a diplomatic end to the war.
