Azerbaijan may consider lifting its arms embargo on supplies to Kyiv if the Russian regime continues strikes against Ukrainian gas infrastructure or targets facilities of Azerbaijani companies in Ukraine, reports Caliber.Az.

The publication, close to Azerbaijan's leadership, noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev discussed Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure during a call on August 10.

They specifically addressed the Russian strike on the SOCAR oil depot. Caliber.Az said the attacks deeply angered both leaders.

"According to information obtained by Caliber.Az from reliable sources, if Russia continues its aggressive policy against Azerbaijan's interests, official Baku will begin considering the possibility of lifting the arms embargo on supplies to Ukraine from its arsenal," the report said.

It added that Russians have recently targeted Azerbaijani energy facilities in Ukraine on purpose. Baku will respond with severe measures if the attacks don't stop.

Russia attacks Azerbaijani facilities in Ukraine

On August 8, Russian forces used strike drones to hit the SOCAR oil depot in the Odesa region. The attack caused a fire and damaged a diesel fuel pipeline. Casualties were reported.

Earlier, the Russian military attacked a gas transport facility near Ukraine’s border with Romania, located in Orlovka, Odesa region. This station supplied gas from the US and Azerbaijan to Ukraine. Azerbaijani gas also passed through it on its way to Europe.
