Russian troops attack gas station linked to US, Azerbaijani energy supplies

The Russian Federation attacked a gas transportation infrastructure facility near the border with Romania with dozens of drones. Through this station, gas from the United States and Azerbaijan was being transported to Ukraine, according to the Ministry of Energy.
As noted, on the night of August 6, Russia carried out a targeted attack on a gas infrastructure facility—a compressor station of the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine in the Odesa region near the Romanian border.
This compressor station was part of the route that connects Greek LNG terminals with Ukrainian gas storage facilities via the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline, through which LNG from the USA and test volumes of Azerbaijani gas had already been supplied.
Today, the equipment that ensures these supplies was attacked by dozens of enemy strike drones.
"This is a Russian strike solely on civilian infrastructure, deliberately against the energy sector and simultaneously against relations with Azerbaijan, the USA, and partners in Europe, against the normal life of Ukrainians and all Europeans," the statement reads.
Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk emphasized that this attack is a signal for the whole of Europe, which plans to completely abandon Russian natural gas by 2027.
"If the Russians are allowed to strike our energy infrastructure and gas routes with impunity, then no infrastructure facility in Europe will be safe. Impunity only expands terror," the minister emphasized.
Strike on the Odesa region
As reported by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, this night the Russians struck gas infrastructure in the Izmail district with drones.
It is known that the fire completely destroyed the production equipment. Due to damage to the main gas pipeline, 2,500 subscribers have been temporarily disconnected.
The fire at the facility in the Odesa region was noticed at night, even by residents of Romania.
