Avdiivka frontline: Russians assault, Ukrainian defenders respond with mortar fire
Russian troops made another attempt to storm the positions of Ukrainian forces in the Avdiivka area of the Donetsk region. National Guard fighters repelled it, killing 18 Russians with a mortar, reports the National Guard of Ukraine.
"In the Avdiivka direction, the National Guardsmen destroyed the enemy assault group in a few minutes," the report says.
As the military said, aerial reconnaissance spotted the enemy using a thermal imaging drone at night advancing toward the positions of Ukrainian forces.
"The coordinates were immediately given to the soldiers of the Lviv unit of the National Guard," the NGU says.
Russia's losses
The video clearly shows the occupants who stopped moving after the first mortar hit. Those who tried to escape were neutralized by a second hit.
"Minus 18 enemy stormtroopers in the treasury of our victory," the National Guard states.
