Ukrainian forces report increased Russian attacks near Avdiivka
In the Avdiivka direction, Russian aggressors have intensified assault actions, and after a certain "lull" due to adverse weather conditions, they significantly increased artillery shelling and aviation strikes since yesterday, says the spokesperson of the Unified Press Center of the Defense Forces of the Tavria direction, Oleksandr Shtupun.
It was noted during the national telethon broadcast.
"After a reduction in the use of drones, artillery, and aviation due to worsening weather conditions, yesterday the enemy sharply increased both the number of artillery bombardments and air strikes by about two times," the officer said.
Additionally, there is an activation of ground infantry attacks by the enemy in this sector of the front. Despite this, the Ukrainian Defense Forces, repelling the interventions, destroy a significant amount of Russian armored military equipment.
"Occasionally (the enemy, - ed.) uses armored vehicles, much of which our soldiers set on fire," said Shtupun.
Situation in the Avdiivka area
Recall that at the beginning of October, Russian occupiers intensified their offensive in the Avdiivka area, considering it the most extensive since 2014.
According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, in the month when the enemy became more active near Avdiivka, the Russian army lost about 10,000 soldiers in this direction.
Recently, the spokesperson for the Unified Press Center of the Defense Forces of the Tavria direction, Shtupun, reported that in the Avdiivka area, Russian forces advanced several mechanized columns with armored vehicles. However, the offensive failed, and the occupiers lost almost 80% of their equipment.
On November 23rd, it became known about the beginning of the enemy's third wave of the offensive in the Avdiivka direction. Despite active attacks, the enemy continues to suffer significant losses.
