Ukrainian defenders struck the oil terminal at the port of Ust-Luga, located on the Baltic Sea, again on the night of April 7, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Strike on Ust-Luga port

"On the night of April 7, Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck the Ust-Luga Oil terminal (Slobodka, Leningrad region of the Russian Federation)," the General Staff said.

According to the Ukrainian military, three storage tanks belonging to Transneft-Baltika were damaged in the attack.

The oil terminal at the port of Ust-Luga is a key element for Russia’s oil exports. The revenue Russia earns from its energy resources is used to continue the war against Ukraine.

Aftermath of previous attacks

The General Staff also clarified the consequences of the strike on Transneft-Port Primorsk. As a result of the April 5 attack, three tanks with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters were damaged, after which petroleum products caught fire.

At the same time, during the April 5 attack on Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez LLC, elements of the AVT-6 and AVT-1 primary crude processing units, as well as unit 19/6 used in the production of oil bitumen, were damaged.

OSINT analysts had earlier reported the attack on the port of Ust-Luga on the night of April 7. Russian authorities report a drone attack on the Leningrad region.

Ukrainian defenders have been attacking the port of Ust-Luga for the second week in a row. Such strikes have caused major fires, and oil exports from the port were temporarily suspended.
