Ukraine needs to reach the same volume of artillery shells as Russia to defend its territories, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Commenting on the importance of financial assistance from the United States, Zelenskyy says that "without this support, we will have no chance of winning."

"We need to be much stronger than the enemy. Today we have a ratio of artillery shells of 1 to 10. Can we hold our positions? No. In any case, with such statistics, they will push us back every day," he adds.

The President notes that to fully defend the territories controlled by Ukraine, the Ukrainian military must have the same amount of artillery shells as the Russians.

Zelenskyy emphasizes that Ukraine is currently fighting against a large Russian army that does not care about its soldiers. At the same time, Russia has an unlimited number of people and a lot of shells.

"Please tell me, how can you fight these thousands if you have no weapons to shoot them down? They have airplanes that fly from Crimea and attack us at a distance of more than 300 kilometers. It could be more than 300, 400, 500 kilometers, depending on how deep they are aiming from Crimea," he adds.

He notes that Ukraine has a plan for a war with Russia and understands what weapons it needs.

Shells for Ukraine

Back in February of this year, Czech President Petr Pavel said that his country had found 800,000 shells for Ukraine, but that funding was needed to transfer them.

According to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, the first batch of Czech shells was expected to arrive in April of this year.

Meanwhile, Estonia has found an opportunity to purchase another batch of ammunition for the Ukrainian army worth several billion euros.
