The Ukrainian delegation paid a visit to Argentina today. The meeting between the two countries was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian delegation was headed by Daria Gerasymchuk, Advisor to the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights and Child Rehabilitation. Together with the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Argentine Republic Yurii Klymenko, they met with representatives of the Argentine government and National Congress, as well as ambassadors of EU member states, the Ukrainian community, students, teachers, experts, and local media.

"Argentina's voice should be heard confidently in the coalition of countries, because you have your own traumatic memories and lost children's lives. By joining forces to rescue abducted Ukrainian children in fulfillment of the 4th point of the Peace Formula proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the countries of the world will be able to create a new, effective system of child protection around the world," Gerasymchuk said.

The Argentine side assured that it is considering the possibility of joining the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children in the near future. Argentine parliamentarians have already submitted a draft declaration on joining the coalition to the highest legislative body.

The meetings also focused on the Bring Kids Back UA plan, which covers all aspects of resolving the abduction of Ukrainian children by Russia and their return home.

The Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children was launched on February 2, 2024. It is a joint initiative of Ukraine and Canada. The coalition has already been joined by 36 countries.

Return of Ukrainian children

Ukrainian Human Rights Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets said that Russia had illegally deported more than 19,000 Ukrainian children.

Recently, Ukraine managed to return 13 more children and their families from the occupied territories. However, global support is needed to return all the children abducted by the Russians.
