In the Valdai district of Russia's Novgorod region, near the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin, authorities have installed protective measures that are widely used on the battlefield, according to the Russian media outlet Meduza.

Photographs of the protective structures installed over truck parking areas were published by journalist Oleg Kashin on his Telegram channel. According to him, the images were sent to him by readers.

The Russian outlet Agentstvo analyzed the photos and concluded that they were taken on a highway in the Valdai district, about nine kilometers from Putin's residence.

Such netted structures are widely used on the battlefield to protect against small drones and munitions that can be dropped from unmanned aerial vehicles.

At the same time, Ruslan Leviev, the founder of the investigative project Conflict Intelligence Team, believes that the structures may be intended not so much to protect the trucks as to monitor and control them.

According to Leviev, the additional security measures may have been introduced after Ukraine's Operation Spiderweb, during which drones were reportedly concealed in trucks and launched near designated targets.

Concerns over Vladimir Putin's security in Russia have intensified in recent months.

Earlier, the Financial Times reported that following the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Russian security services inspected the video surveillance systems used to protect the Russian president and his inner circle.

According to the report, Israeli intelligence used footage from road cameras and advanced data-analysis tools during the operation against Khamenei to determine his whereabouts. The Kremlin subsequently became concerned that similar technologies could be used to track senior Russian officials as well.
