Another US state recognizes Holodomor as genocide against Ukrainian people
The American state of North Carolina has once again recognized the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people, as stated by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA Oksana Markarova.
"We are thankful to the State of North Carolina and Governor Roy Cooper for reiterating the recognition of the Holodomor as Genocide on the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor in Ukraine," she wrote.
The Holodomor in Ukraine
The Holodomor of 1932-1933 is considered one of the most tragic events in Ukrainian history. Mass famine resulted in millions of casualties. Historians note that around 7 million people perished due to the Holodomor.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appealed to democratic states to recognize the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide against the Ukrainian people. After the start of full-scale war, this process intensified. Several European countries adopted the relevant decision, as did more than 30 states in the USA.
