Ukraine's Defense Forces struck a Russian missile ship Karakurt in the port of Primorsk port. The vessel is a carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles, which Russia frequently uses in strikes against Ukraine, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Major General Yevhenii Khmara, reported to the president on the successful strike against facilities in the port of Primorsk.

This was a joint operation carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine, the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Special Operations Forces, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, and border guards.

The strike hit a Karakurt missile ship, a patrol boat, and another tanker belonging to Russia's shadow oil fleet.

Significant damage was also inflicted on the infrastructure of the oil transshipment port.

"Each such result of ours limits Russia’s war potential. I approved additional, entirely fair responses from the SBU to Russian strikes on our cities and villages. Russia can end this war at any moment. Prolonging it will only scale up our defensive operations," President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Strikes on Novorossiysk

As a reminder, on May 3, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Ukraine's Defense Forces struck two Russian oil tankers in the waters of the port of Novorossiysk port, which were used for oil transportation.

Also, on the night of April 5, drones attacked Novorossiysk — videos appeared online showing a fire at the Sheskharis oil terminal. Explosions were also reported at a Transneft facility servicing large tankers.

According to media reports, Russia's average monthly oil exports have fallen to their lowest level in eight months, partly due to disruptions at the Sheskharis terminal.

As noted by Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk, Novorossiysk is a key Russian oil export port that directly affects the financing of the war.

He added that strikes on such infrastructure are aimed at reducing Russia’s ability to fund its aggression against Ukraine.
