Russian leader Vladimir Putin arrived in Tajikistan on a visit, despite facing an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC), according to the Kremlin's Telegram channel and RIA Novosti.

Instead of being arrested, Putin was greeted at the plane by Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon. They hugged and shook hands, and Tajik military personnel also welcomed the Kremlin leader.

According to Russian media, Putin's visit to Tajikistan is planned for three days, including participation in the Russia–Central Asia summit and a meeting of CIS countries.

RIA Novosti reports that, in addition to talks with Rahmon, Putin also plans to meet Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

It is worth noting that the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Putin in 2023, citing his responsibility for the deportation of Ukrainian children.

Putin's visit to Mongolia

On September 2 of last year, Russian leader Vladimir Putin visited Mongolia's capital.

Mongolian authorities refused to arrest him under the ICC warrant, even though they are legally obliged to comply with the court's decisions.

There were no real consequences for Mongolia following this decision.

In January this year, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Iryna Mudra, suggested that the ICC Assembly of States Parties could potentially exclude Mongolia for its refusal to arrest Putin.
