On the afternoon of Tuesday, August 6, a fire broke out in central Crimea near the Oktyabrske airfield. Detonations were heard at the ammunition depots, according to the Telegram channel Krymskiy Veter and Russian propaganda media.

According to Krymskiy Veter, a large fire was reported near the airfield. Meanwhile, locals heard loud explosions near the village of Shyroke, which is located close to the settlement of Oktyabrske.

Additionally, residents of other nearby villages, Leninske and Zoryane, were forced to take shelter in basements due to the powerful explosions.

Interestingly, a railway line near Oktyabrske was closed by the occupiers for several hours "for technical reasons."

The movement of two trains was suspended:

  • No. 27/28 Simferopol - Moscow, departing on August 6 from Simferopol, was stopped at 17:34 near the Ostryakovo station.
  • No. 175/176 Moscow Paveletskaya - Simferopol, departing on August 5 from Moscow, was stopped at 17:29 near the Krasnopartizanska station.

Additionally, the Simferopol-Krasnoperekopsk road was closed near Oktyabrske. There were also reports of Russian aircraft flying over the Simferopol district.

It is worth noting that after the airfield was struck in 2023, Russia no longer kept its aircraft there. However, the occupiers used the site for storing ammunition.

Explosions at airfields in Crimea

On the night of August 2, four enemy S-400 systems were destroyed in Crimea. There were reports of explosions in Sevastopol, Balaklava, Saky, Yevpatoria, and Simferopol.

Later, the Ukrainian Navy stated that five military airfields remained in Russian-occupied Crimea, two of which no longer had aircraft.
