Former US Army Commander in Europe Ben Hodges has called a turning point in the war in Ukraine. And no single weapon system is the decisive factor for it.

“The only game-changer would be a declaration of Ukrainian victory as America’s strategic objective,” he said.

According to the former commander, no weapon system, no platform, and no policy are the decisive factor.

“However, the approval of Ukrainian use of ATACMS, Storm Shadow, and SCALP against targets inside Russia is an important step forward which gives Ukraine much greater capability to destroy Russian headquarters, logistics, and artillery which will degrade Russia’s advantage of mass,” Hodges said.

Russia's war against Ukraine

Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014. At the end of February 2022, Russian troops invaded Ukraine on a large scale.

Officials both in Ukraine and in the West have repeatedly spoken about the end of Russia's war in Ukraine. Just at the end of November, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the war in Ukraine could end next year, but it depends on the will and decisions of other leaders.

At the same time, in early December, Zelenskyy announced a new phase of the war. At that time, he said that the war in Ukraine was entering a new stage. Winter is expected to complicate the fighting.
