Zelenskyy on ending Ukraine war: It can happen next year but depends on will
The war in Ukraine may end next year. But it depends on the will and decisions of other leaders, says President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with Sky News.
The president says Ukrainians will do everything to end this war and have every opportunity to end it next year. But only together with Europe and the United States.
Zelenskyy added that future US President Donald Trump could put a lot of pressure on Russia by strengthening Ukraine. He pointed to diplomatic ways to end the war.
He believes it can happen quickly, but it all depends on the will of those who want it. It is clear that it is not easy and it will not happen tomorrow, he adds. It can happen next year, but it all depends on the decisions and will of other leaders.
Forecasts for the end of the war
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine needed to do everything to end the war in 2025 through diplomatic means.
He also stated that Ukraine supported diplomacy as a way to end the war. But it should not cost Ukraine 30% of its territory.
In an interview with SkyNews, Zelenskyy also made a statement about ending the hot phase of the war. In his opinion, NATO should take the territory controlled by Ukraine under its umbrella. The rest of the territories, according to the president, should be returned diplomatically.
However, Zelenskyy emphasized that such a proposal has never been offered to Ukraine.
