As a result of an aviation crash near Zhytomyr, three Ukrainian pilots lost their lives. The names of all the deceased heroes have been disclosed by the 40th Brigade of Tactical Aviation.

During the execution of a combat mission in the skies over the Zhytomyr region, the crews of two L-39 training and combat aircraft collided. Three pilots lost their lives in the accident. They were experienced aviators who defended the skies of Ukraine, including carrying out missions in the East and Zaporizhzhia directions.

The following pilots lost their lives in the aviation crash:

  • Captain Andrii Pilshchykov, call sign "Juice." A pilot from Kharkiv who dedicated 8 years of his life to aviation. He had over 500 flight hours since the start of the full-scale war, including combat missions in challenging conditions. He received numerous state and departmental awards and was actively involved in Western media, particularly regarding the provision of modern F-16 aircraft to Ukraine.
  • Major Viacheslav Minka. The pilot lived in the Kyiv region. He returned to aviation in 2015 when the Russian aggressor attacked Ukraine. He had over 200 flight hours since the beginning of the full-scale invasion and was an experienced pilot within the brigade, technically proficient, and knowledgeable about various types of aircraft. He dedicated a significant part of his service to instructing.
  • Major Serhii Prokazin. The pilot lived in the Poltava region and devoted 24 years of his life to aviation, from a pilot to the deputy commander of the brigade. From 2022, he had over 100 hours of combat flights.

Aircraft crash near Zhytomyr

On Friday, August 25, in the Zhytomyr region, two L-39 training and combat aircraft collided. As a result of the accident, three Ukrainian pilots lost their lives.

The State Bureau of Investigations has already initiated an investigation into the accident. Specialized experts will conduct diagnostics on the "black boxes."

Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat announced that the timeline for investigating the plane crash in the Zhytomyr region is currently unknown. It could take up to six months.
