"We haven't heard anything" about the so-called air truce that US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin reportedly agreed on, states Ukrainian presidential communications advisor Dmytro Lytvyn on X.

Lytvyn left the comment under a post by The Economist journalist Oliver Carroll. Carroll, citing sources, wrote that a preliminary agreement on an "air truce" was allegedly reached during the Trump-Putin meeting ahead of a planned trilateral leaders' summit.

"We think the skies will give signals about

results of these talks. Next week will be interesting," Carroll's source said.

However, Lytvyn noted that Ukraine "has heard nothing about this yet."

According to Axios journalist Barak Ravid, Trump reportedly told Zelenskyy and NATO leaders that Putin does not want a truce and prefers a comprehensive agreement to end the war.

The journalist writes that Trump said: "I think a quick peace deal is better than a ceasefire."

Trump and Putin meet in Alaska

US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin met in Alaska the day before. The "three-on-three" talks lasted nearly three hours. More details about the negotiations are available in the RBC-Ukraine article.

After the talks, the leaders held a joint press conference, but journalists were not allowed to ask questions.

Trump said no agreements regarding Ukraine were reached, but "some progress has been made." On his way back to Washington, he held phone calls with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO leaders.

Zelenskyy announced that he will travel to Washington on Monday, August 18, to discuss the war with the US president.
