Some unmanned aerial systems are already equipped with systems that help operators target and lock onto enemy targets in the sky, according to an RBC-Ukraine report.

The interviewed experts told the outlet that AI tools are generally used to destroy Shahed drones through automatic target recognition and tracking systems. These systems help minimize the chance of error and achieve a reliable result in a short period of time.

Today, drone operators do not search the sky for enemy targets completely at random. A special system provides the crew with information about the approximate location of the target, its altitude, speed and direction of movement.

The drone then flies to the designated area, where the operator begins the visual search. In other words, electronic systems help narrow down the search area as much as possible. However, at the final stage, the operator still has to identify the target, approach it and carry out the interception.

Earlier, Brave1 held its first online Demo Day focused on upgrading FPV drones. More than 50 manufacturers presented spare parts and new technological solutions for use at the front.

We also reported that Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has codified the high-speed TAF Kolibri-i10 interceptor drone. The system is now available for purchase through the DOT-Chain Defence system.
