After NATO summit, Rutte states that Ukraine’s path to Alliance is irreversible

Ukraine’s path to NATO membership remains irreversible. The Alliance member states will continue to support the country on this path, according to the closing speech of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the Alliance summit in The Hague.
Rutte stated that NATO countries are committed to continuing their support for Ukraine. In particular, they have already pledged €35 billion in aid for this year.
According to the Secretary General, the Alliance members will also continue assisting Ukraine to achieve a lasting peace in the future.
"We stand with Ukraine in its pursuit of peace and will support it on its irreversible path to NATO membership," Rutte said.
He emphasized that today the leaders had agreed on a trajectory that would ensure they could safeguard freedom and security for many, many years to come.
US does not see Ukraine in NATO
Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that Ukraine’s accession to NATO "is impractical."
The American leader also said that he does not believe Ukraine will ever succeed in joining NATO.
Trump believes that Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine supposedly began because of discussions about possible Ukrainian membership in the Alliance.
