The nutritionist noted that soluble fibers in apples reduce cholesterol levels in the blood, and one of the polyphenols - the flavonoid epicatechin - contributes to the normalization of blood pressure.

Consuming 25 grams of apples (approximately half a cup of sliced pieces) can reduce the risk of stroke by 20%.

Reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes

Vera Kurin added that studies show that eating one apple a day reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes by 28%.

Excellent source of prebiotics

The fruit is also a good source of prebiotics. Apples contain a fiber called pectin, which serves as fuel for beneficial bacteria in the intestines.
