The next round of talks between delegations from Ukraine, the US, and Russia may take place in Abu Dhabi (UAE) or Switzerland, according to Sky News.

According to sources in the US government, a meeting could take place in a couple of weeks in Abu Dhabi or Switzerland.

As a US official notes, the goal is ultimately to prepare for a high-level meeting. However, there is still a lot of work to be done before that can happen.

Peace talks

On October 20, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in Oslo with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Finnish President Alexander Stubb also participated in the talks.

The very next day, Witkoff traveled to St. Petersburg for a meeting with Vladimir Putin. Kremlin Special Representative Kirill Dmitriev joined the meeting.

According to the US envoy, he brought Putin documents containing proposals on approaches to ending the war. After the talks, Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov stated that the matter was allegedly moving toward an end to the war.

As Axios reported, citing sources, following contacts in Oslo and St. Petersburg, Ukraine and Russia agreed to resume trilateral talks with US participation.

At the same time, according to a source at RBC-Ukraine, Kyiv considers it unlikely that an agreement on an energy ceasefire will be reached as a result of these contacts. Instead, the Ukrainian side considers the resumption of negotiations at the delegation level and the possible coordination of de-escalation measures to be a success.

The Kremlin stated that negotiations were planned to take place in the first half of November in Abu Dhabi in a trilateral format.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously mentioned this venue.

Trump reportedly aims to sign a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia during the G20 summit, which is scheduled to take place in December in Florida. Media outlets emphasize that the negotiations could take place under significant pressure on Kyiv.
