Near the temporarily occupied Donetsk, more than 20 military personnel were killed in a rocket strike on October 3, including six officers from North Korea. Additionally, three soldiers from North Korea were wounded, reports the Kyiv Post.

It is reported that these North Korean soldiers allegedly arrived in the occupied territory of Ukraine for negotiations with their Russian colleagues.

According to intelligence sources cited by the Kyiv Post, the strike was carried out by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in an area controlled by Russian forces near Donetsk.

Overall, more than two dozen soldiers and officers were eliminated as a result of the attack on Friday, October 3.

Meanwhile, Russian social media reports indicated that before the missile strike, the Russian army showcased their personnel's preparations for assault operations and defense to the North Korean representatives.

Rumors about the deployment of North Korean troops to Ukraine to assist the Russian army

Earlier, media reports indicated that North Korea might send engineers and builders to the occupied areas of the Donetsk region to assist Russia with reconstruction efforts.

On June 20, it was reported that during a visit to North Korea, Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed an agreement on a comprehensive strategic partnership. This agreement stipulates immediate mutual assistance in case of aggression against either country.

Additionally, in June, Putin urged his North Korean counterpart to open diplomatic missions in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk.

The Pentagon also reacted to the potential dispatch of North Korean soldiers to Ukraine to assist the Russian contingent at the Kremlin's request. The US Department of Defense noted that in such a case, North Korean troops would become cannon fodder.

Military expert Pavlo Narozhnyy commented to RBC-Ukraine that the decision to send troops to Ukraine to aid the Russian army could end very poorly for North Korea.

Moreover, back in September last year, the National Resistance Center reported on plans by Russia to transport North Korean citizens to the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk for construction work.
