Four Ukrainian players ended their participation in the US Open qualifying rounds, losing in the first rounds.

Daria Snigur could not repeat her record, losing to a Swiss player

The Ukrainian played the longest match among her compatriots.

In a tense match against Switzerland's Simona Waltert, Snigur took the first set 6-4.

However, Waltert completely dominated the second set, giving Snigur only one game, 6-1.

In the decisive set, despite attempts at a comeback, Snigur lost 2-6.

For Snigur, this was her sixth consecutive appearance in the US Open qualifying, but she was unable to repeat her 2022 success when she reached the main draw.

Debutant Oleksandra Oliynykova exited after two sets

The 191st-ranked player in the world made her US Open qualifying debut and was eliminated immediately.

In the first set against Lizette Cabrera, Oliynykova lost 2-6, and in the second set, despite a tighter contest, she also lost 4-6.

Anastasiia Sobolieva lost to an American opponent

Sobolieva, ranked 239th in the world, played against American Sasha Vickery, who is 562nd in the WTA rankings. Both sets ended 7-5 in Vickery's favor.

This was Sobolieva's second consecutive first-round loss in US Open qualifying.

Vitalii Sachko exited in two sets

Sachko became the first Ukrainian male player in two years to participate in the US Open qualifying.

His opponent, Taro Daniel, comfortably won the first set 6-1. In the second set, Sachko narrowed the gap but lost to the Japanese player 5-7.

Who remains in the draw?

Despite the qualifying losses, four Ukrainian players will continue in the tournament. Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremska, and Yuliya Starodubtseva will play in the US Open main draw.

The main draw of the US Open, the final Grand Slam of the season, begins on August 24.
