US President Donald Trump advised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to "make a deal" with Russia. He made this statement after he met with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska, according to the US president’s interview with Fox News.

Trump urged Zelenskyy to make a deal with Russia, stressing that Ukraine was up against a much larger state.

"Make a deal. You’ve got to make a deal, yeah. Russia is a very big power, and they are great soldiers, but they also have the best equipment. They had our equipment, and I gave them Javelins, if you remember, in my first term. And in fact, it was a statement. I gave Javelins, you murmur the statements?" concluded Trump.

He suggested that a meeting involving himself, Zelenskyy, and Putin could take place soon, though he did not specify whether it might happen within the coming month. He noted that both leaders wanted him present at such talks and stated that he would be there.

Trump–Putin meeting in Alaska

Earlier today, Trump met Putin at a military base in Anchorage, Alaska. The nearly three-hour talks focused on Russia’s war against Ukraine. Trump admitted afterward that no ceasefire agreement had been reached.

According to him, the next steps now depend on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Trump is expected to call Zelenskyy and NATO leaders soon. Ahead of the Alaska summit, he had not ruled out the possibility of holding a joint meeting with both Zelenskyy and Putin shortly.
