The Russian military command has set a new task for its forces: to capture three cities in the Donetsk region during the autumn. The cities in question are Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, and Dobropillia, according to a spokesperson for the Dnipro operational-strategic group of troops, Oleksii Bielskyi, speaking on the national telethon.

At present, the main goal of the Russian forces is to establish control over the Pokrovsk–Myrnohrad agglomeration. They are creating a so-called "corridor" stretching from Nykonorivka and Maiak toward Dobropillia and are moving in additional reserves.

Bielskyi noted that there was a risk for Russia that Ukrainian forces could cut off this "pocket," so they pulled entire brigades from other sections of the front.

According to him, Dobropillia has been designated as the first target. If Russian forces manage to capture it, they plan to then concentrate efforts on Myrnohrad and Pokrovsk. The next step would be to encircle Kostiantynivka to cut Ukrainian logistical routes.

Bielskyi reported that Russian forces are suffering significant losses, just in the past 24 hours, 153 soldiers were eliminated in the Pokrovsk direction.

Situation in Donetsk region

Recently, it was reported that Ukrainian defenders managed to liberate the village of Novoekonomichne, located near Pokrovsk.

At the same time, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian forces had achieved "very positive results in Donbas" and were preparing unpleasant surprises for Russian troops.

Meanwhile, the general staff of the armed forces of Ukraine said that the Russian command, passing wishful thinking as reality, summarized the so-called "spring–summer campaign of 2025." In fact, the latest Russian seasonal offensive ended with virtually nothing achieved.
