Ukrainian defenders have managed to liberate the settlement of Novoekonomichne from Russian forces. The village is located near Pokrovsk, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"Assault groups of the Skelya regiment liberated the village of Novoekonomichne in the Donetsk region. It took two weeks to gradually, street by street, clear the area," the General Staff said in a video.

They added that on August 31, Ukrainian troops raised the Ukrainian flag in the center of the settlement.

Notably, just yesterday, August 31, it was reported that Russian soldiers had shot a civilian in Novoekonomichne. The incident likely occurred on August 28.

Successes of Ukrainian forces

On August 24, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian defenders had achieved "very, very positive results" in Donbas.

According to him, Russian forces can expect some unpleasant surprises.
