Will US respond to Russia's ceasefire violations in Ukraine? Expert's opinion

Russian military forces continue to strike energy facilities in Ukraine, despite agreements with the US. US President Donald Trump is likely not planning to take additional measures, states political scientist and candidate of philosophical sciences Andrii Horodnytskyi, in a commentary to the RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel.
"So far, I don't see any steps from the US. We understand that when Trump is told that Russia is hitting Ukraine, targeting energy facilities, and maybe some sanctions should be tightened, he responds that there are already too many sanctions. Perhaps we should lift some sanctions because maybe they have been
pressed too hard and can't think clearly because of that," explained the political scientist.
Horodnytsky noted that the US is unlikely to take any action for Ukraine in this situation.
"We perfectly understand that as long as there is no ceasefire, Trump will be dodging like a snake on a frying pan, saying, ‘Let’s push till the end, let’s hold on a bit longer.’ After all, it's Ukraine being hit, not the United States. They are comfortable with this — Ukraine was being hit before, and now it's being hit again," he added.
He also pointed out that Russia is taking full advantage of this.
"They understand that they are doing quite well and have indeed severely damaged Ukraine's energy infrastructure," the expert concluded.
Russia continues to strike Ukraine
Earlier this year, the US president held a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the call, they discussed a ceasefire in Ukraine and the protection of energy infrastructure.
In particular, Putin agreed to a 30-day embargo on strikes against Ukraine's energy facilities.
It is also worth noting that Kyiv, in turn, agreed during the latest negotiations to a ceasefire in the Black Sea and an energy truce with Russia. However, Moscow only agreed to the energy truce. Regarding the Black Sea, the Kremlin began demanding that the West first lift some sanctions.
Despite these agreements, Russia continues its daily attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
