What Ukraine should expect if Simion becomes Romania’s President — Expert opinion

Controversial politician George Simion may win the presidential elections in Romania. However, this would not mean an apocalypse for Ukraine, stated political strategist Taras Zahorodnii in a comment to the RBC-Ukraine's YouTube channel.
Zahorodnii noted that there are no truly pro-Ukrainian or anti-Ukrainian politicians - "they only love themselves, make friendships for money or out of necessity."
According to him, voters in Romania are not controlled by anyone, so Simion really could become President.
"But will there be the kind of apocalypse that supposedly conscious people in Ukraine like to write about? I don’t think so, for many reasons. If anything happens, it will likely be empty talk, like that of Fico (Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico - ed.), who talks a lot but does nothing in reality," the political strategist said.
He recalled that military aid to Ukraine continues to pass through Slovakia, and Bratislava is not making any effort to stop Ukraine’s EU integration.
Zahorodnii also believes that Simion will speak very cautiously about Bessarabia allegedly being Romanian territory. In such a case, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán might respond by bringing up Hungarian Transylvania, where one million ethnic Hungarians live.
"That’s why I think Romania will be very careful with such statements, because it could raise some very uncomfortable questions about how Transylvania became part of Romania," the expert emphasized.
Simion's threats
Just yesterday, on May 8, the winner of the first round of the Romanian presidential election, George Simion, said that he was waiting for compensation for the Patriot air defense system transferred to Ukraine.
He also promised that he would not give a single cent to any other country.
