There is no energy ceasefire: Ukrainian military on Russian attacks on Ukraine's Kherson and Zaporizhzhia

Despite claims by Russian politicians of the energy ceasefire, Russian forces continue daily attacks on energy infrastructure in southern Ukraine, targeting substations, power plants, and hospitals, stated Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Operational Command South, in a comment to the RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel.
According to Voloshyn, Russian forces are constantly striking the Kherson region and the city of Kherson. He noted that hospitals and energy infrastructure are frequently hit, making talk of any energy ceasefire meaningless.
"Russian politicians talk about some kind of energy ceasefire. What kind of ceasefire is that when they're striking power stations, substations, and critical energy infrastructure?" Voloshyn said.
He stressed that in Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and across the entire south, "there is no energy ceasefire."
Voloshyn emphasized that almost every day, strikes are carried out on facilities that are vital to civilians, not military targets. This, he said, is the tactic of a terrorist state.
Strikes on Kherson and Zaporizhzhia
Recently, Russian forces destroyed a key energy facility in Kherson during attacks that lasted more than 24 hours. The strike caused severe disruptions to the region’s power supply.
On Sunday, April 27, around 10:00 a.m., Russian aircraft targeted Kherson’s Dniprovskyi district, damaging residential buildings, an educational institution, and a healthcare facility. Four people were injured.
In the early hours of May 2, Russian troops launched a massive drone attack on Zaporizhzhia. At least 10 strikes were recorded. The drones damaged high-rise buildings, an educational facility, and an infrastructure site. More than 30 people were injured as a result of the attack.
Energy ceasefire
Earlier this year, with US mediation, Ukraine and Russia reached an agreement to halt attacks on each other’s energy and port infrastructure. The so-called ceasefire officially took effect on March 25.
However, shortly after the deal was enacted, Russia violated the agreement by launching strikes on Ukraine’s energy facilities.
Despite continuing its attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, Russian forces also fabricated fake Ukrainian strikes on their facilities.
As reported by RBC-Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had sent false reports to the US, claiming that Ukrainian forces were attacking Russia’s energy infrastructure.
