There are concerns that Donald Trump may cancel the authorization for Ukraine to fire Western missiles deep into Russia. Political analysts suggest that Trump may use this issue as leverage in negotiations with Russia, according to the RBC-Ukraine article Unpredictable policy. Will Trump revoke Ukraine's green light to strike deep into Russia?

According to political analyst Oleksandr Khara, Trump may propose a moratorium on strikes deep into Russian territory if Moscow stops shelling the Ukrainian energy sector or stops shelling Ukraine altogether.

Political analyst Volodymyr Fesenko believes that Trump is unlikely to immediately unilaterally reverse the decisions of the previous administration upon his return to the presidency. According to Fesenko, this will be disadvantageous to the future US president himself and will be a manifestation of weakness.

He notes that Trump, on the contrary, may increase support for Ukraine to worsen pressure on Moscow to push Russia to negotiate.

Oleksandr Khara emphasizes that if the permits are canceled, Ukraine will have to comply with this decision. Therefore, Ukraine needs to use the available missiles now to solve certain tactical problems.

"First, we would technically be unable to proceed without the support. Second, we wouldn’t want to lose the theoretical possibility of Trump continuing to assist us, for example, if Putin violates any agreements,” he said.

Lifting restrictions on strikes deep into Russia

The United States officially confirmed that it had authorized Ukraine to use long-range ATACMS missiles to strike Russian territory. It has also been reported that Britain and France have also authorized the use of Storm Shadow/SCALP missiles to strike Russia.

Ukraine has already launched its first strikes with American missiles on Russian territory. According to Bloomberg, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have also already used Storm Shadow to strike Russia.
