Israeli law enforcement authorities have not received any information about an "assassination attempt" on businessman Tymur Mindich, states Yevhen Korniichuk, Ukraine’s ambassador to Israel, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
"The embassy does not have any information regarding this incident. No citizens have contacted law enforcement authorities about it," Korniichuk said.
Rumors about an attempt on Mindich
Mindich managed to flee to Israel before the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) made public the details of its exposure of a corruption scheme at Energoatom.
The criminal group, allegedly led by Mindich, according to the investigation, was taking bribes from the energy company's contractors.
The State Border Guard Service reported that the businessman crossed the border legally and that there were no orders for his detention at that time. Mindich was allowed to leave because he is a father of three underage children.
At the same time, today, December 10, detained Ukrainian oligarch Ihor Kolomoiskyi stated during a court hearing that an "assassination attempt" was made on Mindich on November 28.
He specified that it occurred in Israel. According to Kolomoiskyi, a housemaid was injured in the incident, and the perpetrators were arrested.
Israeli police spokesperson Michael Zingerman, commenting on these rumors, said that law enforcement has no confirmation of Kolomoiskyi's claims.
Other police representatives also told the outlet Detali that they have no information regarding any attempt on Mindich.
