Expert outlines main goal of Trump's special envoy's visit to Ukraine

US Presidential Special envoy Keith Kellogg will likely seek to understand Ukraine's stance on the war during his visit. He may explore which issues are non-negotiable for Kyiv and where there might be room for compromise in the context of potential negotiations, states political scientist and international affairs expert Maksym Nesvitailov in a comment to RBC-Ukraine's YouTube channel.
"The first thing regarding Ukraine, I believe, is that Kellogg will want to understand which of our positions are truly non-negotiable and where we might be willing to compromise," he said.
According to the expert, it’s one thing that Ukraine communicates publicly, and another what it is actually prepared to agree to behind closed doors.
"I think he’ll want to get to the bottom of that," Nesvitailov noted.
Kellogg’s visit to Ukraine
As previously reported by RBC-Ukraine, US Special envoy for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg will arrive in Ukraine on February 20. It is planned that he will first attend the Munich Security Conference from February 14-16, and then head to Ukraine.
Kellogg’s visit was confirmed on February 7 by the Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak. According to him, Ukraine is indeed expecting the visit of US President’s Special envoy Keith Kellogg in February.
It’s worth noting that Kellogg had earlier stated that resolving the war in Ukraine requires understanding the positions of all sides. Only after that can compromises be worked on.
