Expert on Ukraine war end options: Trump’s plan not yet available
Supporters of newly elected US President Donald Trump are actively proposing plans to end Russia's war in Ukraine. However, the politician himself has not yet proposed any solutions, stated Volodymyr Fesenko, head of the Penta Center for Applied Political Studies, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine's YouTube channel.
Recently, Reuters published an article compiling three main plans to end the war in Ukraine, which are supposedly being considered by Trump. According to the agency, these plans were proposed by his advisers.
Each proposal includes Ukraine's refusal to join NATO. The advisers to the newly elected President are said to be attempting to force Moscow and Kyiv into negotiations through a carrot-and-stick approach, which includes the idea of halting military aid to Ukraine if it refuses to negotiate.
In contrast, if Russia rejects dialogue, the US is expected to increase its support for Kyiv.
However, Fesenko pointed out that Trump has not yet chosen a specific strategy to end the war in Ukraine.
"Reuters only compiled and summarized the plans that have been voiced before. For example, Kellogg presented his plan back in May. So, the situation is changing. There is also the plan from J.D. Vance. But there is still no plan from Trump. Trump will still make his decision," he emphasized.
At the end of last month, CNN revealed the peace plan of the future US special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg.
Interestingly, in his peace plan, Kellogg proposes freezing the front line.
Shortly before, Trump's ally J.D. Vance refused to call Putin an enemy and also called for negotiations with Russia.
It is worth noting that Trump repeatedly promised to end the war within 24 hours before the election. However, after his victory in November, the politician no longer mentioned this promise.
For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that quickly means losses for Ukraine.
