Zelenskyy will visit Türkiye today: Presidential Administration reveals details
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit Türkiye today, March 8, to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to the Presidential Office.
The Presidential Office confirmed that Zelenskyy would come to Türkiye. At the meeting with Erdogan, the head of state will discuss the peace formula, the peace summit, Black Sea navigation, food stability, and the release of Ukrainian prisoners and political prisoners.
Special attention will also be paid to joint projects in the defense industry.
"Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit the shipyards where the construction of corvettes for the Ukrainian Navy is underway and meet with representatives of Turkish defense companies," the statement said.
As a reminder, yesterday, Turkish media reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would arrive in Türkiye on March 8. The head of state would meet with Erdogan to discuss the war, the grain deal, and bilateral relations.
Türkiye's position on the war
It is worth noting that the Turkish authorities take a neutral position on Russia's war against Ukraine. Ankara supports Ukraine's sovereignty but does not directly condemn Moscow.
At the beginning of the full-scale war, negotiations between Ukraine and Russia were held in Istanbul, but they did not yield significant results. Türkiye also mediated the creation of a grain corridor and several prisoner exchanges.
Recently, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country continues to seek mediation between Ukraine and Russia, and the Turkish Foreign Minister spoke of the need for a "ceasefire."
