Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned that the world's shift in attention to the Middle East could lead to a reduction in military aid for Ukraine, particularly in air defense systems.

Decreased support risk

Ukraine's leader noted that a lack of quick progress in Middle East peace talks creates the risk of a prolonged conflict.

This, in turn, diverts international partners' attention away from Ukraine.

"Less attention means less support. Less support means fewer air defenses," President Zelenskyy emphasized.

He also added that any losses in the war are tragic and expressed hope that the new flare-up of violence will not be prolonged.

Russia-Iran cooperation

Zelenskyy confirmed that Russia is providing support to the Iranian regime, although the exact volume of planned weapon deliveries remains unclear.

He also noted that Iran has so far refrained from supplying Russia with missiles and certain other weapons that Moscow uses to attack Ukrainian cities.

How the Iran conflict affects Ukraine

Recently, Finnish President Alexander Stubb suggested that the conflict in Iran could benefit Ukraine by diverting resources from Russia's allies.

Meanwhile, officials close to Russian leader Vladimir Putin have confirmed that Russia is not a neutral party in the Middle East conflict. Moscow officially supports Iran in its conflict with Israel and considers Western actions in the region to be unjust.

Amid these developments, US President Donald Trump has already commented on the potential for Russian support to Iran.
