Ukraine will not make territorial concessions to Russia but will propose some compromises. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also wants to know whether Donald Trump seriously pressed Vladimir Putin, Politico reports.

As the publication writes, citing its own sources, the Ukrainian side wants clarifications from the United States during the meeting in the Oval Office, while at the same time offering some compromises. However, these compromises are likely not the ones desired by US President Donald Trump.

"We will not recognize the occupation, the situation regarding compromises is broader, but we will not withdraw our troops," a Ukrainian official familiar with the negotiations told the publication.

According to him, Ukraine wants to clarify the details of possible security guarantees and whether Trump seriously pressed Putin to move to a trilateral format of the leaders' meeting.

Territorial issues

Earlier, US President Donald Trump admitted that a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine would likely require some exchange of territories. But he also noted that Ukraine would regain part of its territories.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected territorial concessions, stating that this is enshrined in the Constitution. He emphasized that Ukraine will not give its territories to Russia.

According to media reports, Russian President Putin allegedly wants Ukraine to completely withdraw troops from Donetsk and Luhansk regions in exchange for Russia's commitment to freeze the front lines in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.
