Public pressure on Russia from communities, cities, and the international community can become a key factor in achieving a just peace and ending the war, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at the 3rd International Summit of Cities and Regions.

"The most important thing we can achieve together is to end the war with a just peace and to establish reliable security guarantees for Ukraine and all of Europe — so that no one in Europe is left feeling unprotected. And we can do this. So please, I ask you to support every effort aimed at applying fair and justified pressure on Russia," Zelenskyy said.

He emphasized the importance of supporting diplomacy, as well as political and economic pressure.

"Please, call for new and effective sanctions against Russia and its regime — to stop the killings, to stop the attacks, to achieve real peace, and to ensure that Russia feels the responsibility for this war. That it is felt in Moscow. We need determination at every level. And the more cities and communities speak about this, the better," the president said.

At the same time, he emphasized that efforts should be made to force the Russian people themselves to seek peace.

"Right now, they are looking for ways to prolong this war. In my view, what they are doing is bargaining over it. They must feel that peace is necessary. And please, help us not only by staying resilient, but also through important political work in the name of peace," Zelenskyy concluded.

June 6 attack on Ukraine

Overnight Russian forces launched more than 400 Shahed drones, as well as cruise and ballistic missiles, against Ukraine.

Multiple regions came under attack, including Kyiv, Chernihiv, Lutsk, Ternopil, Kremenchuk, and the Kyiv and Lviv regions.

In the capital, three emergency workers were killed in the attack, and more than ten personnel from the State Emergency Service were injured.

In Ternopil, rescue workers were also wounded as a result of Russian attack. Overall, industrial facilities and critical infrastructure in the city were among the targets.
