Zelenskyy unveils Ukraine's proposal for Russian delegation in tomorrow's talks

Ukraine will propose a ceasefire during talks with Russia in Istanbul on June 2. The proposal calls for a complete and unconditional ceasefire, says Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The Ukrainian president said he held a lengthy meeting today with Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak, intelligence chiefs, and military officials.
"We discussed what exactly we expect from the meeting in Istanbul on Monday. We continue to propose a full, unconditional ceasefire and all dignified and rational steps that can bring lasting and reliable peace. The Ukrainian proposal we gave to the Russians is logical and realistic," the president said.
Zelenskyy added that Russia has not shared its memorandum with any party — neither Ukraine, Türkiye, nor the US.
"Despite this, we will try to achieve at least some progress on the path to peace," he said.
Ukraine-Russia talks
Following the first round of talks with Ukraine on May 16 in Istanbul, Russia announced that it would prepare a memorandum. The document was expected to outline Russia's vision for a ceasefire.
This week, Moscow announced it had completed its memorandum, but it has not shared it with Ukraine. Instead, Russia proposed a second round of talks in Istanbul on June 2.
Ukraine insisted that Russia provide its proposals before the Istanbul meeting; however, this did not occur.
According to Reuters, Ukraine will present a roadmap to resolve the war tomorrow. Proposals include a ceasefire of at least 30 days, a prisoner exchange on a “all-for-all” format, the return of Ukrainian children, and a direct meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin.
Zelenskyy has approved the delegation for tomorrow's talks. Defense Minister Rustem Umerov will lead the Ukrainian team. The delegation will also include representatives from the Office of the President, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the General Staff, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Foreign Intelligence Service.
