Zelenskyy unveils new steps for Ukraine’s Freyja anti-ballistic program

Ukraine is preparing meetings with partners to implement the joint Freyja anti-ballistic program, while also actively expanding its own long-range strike capabilities, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The head of state spoke about a meeting with National Security and Defense Council Secretary Ihor Klymenko and preparations for issues to be considered during the meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
"We are preparing the agenda for the Staff meeting. In the near future, there will be meetings with partners attended by states and companies involved in developing the joint FREYJA anti-ballistic program. We are also working to develop our additional deep-strike capabilities," he said.
The president added that the results of this work will be reviewed at a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
"The NSDC Secretary is overseeing the implementation of decisions, and it is important that our previous decisions on countering Russian attack drones and accelerating the relevant production processes be 100 percent effective," Zelenskyy said.
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that the Freyja project is moving forward. He stressed that Ukraine wants to accelerate the process, as protection against ballistic threats is critical.
It was also reported that Fire Point plans to conduct the first interception of a ballistic missile under the Freyja project by mid-2027. Thirteen European partners have already joined the project.
