Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue active operations on Russian territory. This complicates the enemy's progress toward the Sumy region.

The president held a discussion with the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, addressing the situation at the front and the actions of Ukrainian forces in Russian territory.

"We maintain activity that prevents Russian forces from entering the territory of Sumy and our Kharkiv region. I thank all of our units for their resilience — everyone, from the Kursk region to the southern directions," Zelenskyy explained.

The Ukrainian leader also specifically acknowledged those who have shown exceptional effectiveness at the frontlines:

  • The 225th Separate Assault Regiment;

  • The 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade;

  • The Special Operations Forces for their effective actions in neutralizing the enemy;

  • The 35th Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Ostrogradsky for their effectiveness in the Pokrovsk direction.

"Thank you all, warriors! You are true heroes! I thank every one of you who help the army, who work in all our defense enterprises, and who support our military. I thank all those who bring the truth about what is happening in Ukraine to the world. Ukraine’s strong positions across the board and our effective work for our country are what truly contribute to bringing peace closer. Thank you all! Glory to Ukraine!" he concluded.

Russia preparing a new offensive

On Thursday, March 27, the Ukrainian president reported that Ukrainian intelligence had detected preparations by Russia for new offensives.

According to Zelenskyy, the threat is directed toward the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Following this, Ivan Tymochko, the head of the Ground Forces Reserve Council, in a comment to the RBC-Ukraine, shared his assessment of Russia's strength and potential threats in the event of a possible new offensive.

Today, on March 29, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that the Russian army had allegedly captured the settlement of Veselivka in the Sumy region.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine commented on Russia's statement and clarified the actual situation on the border in the Sumy region.
