Zelenskyy, Trump discuss Russian attacks, 'good options' for Ukraine's air defense

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with Donald Trump about Russia's strikes on Ukraine's energy sector and ways to strengthen the country's air defense system.
"I had a call with US President Donald Trump — a very positive and productive one," Zelenskyy said.
He added that he congratulated Trump on his success and the Middle East deal he had effectively secured.
"It's an outstanding achievement. If a war can be stopped in one region, then surely other wars can be stopped as well — including the Russian war," the President said.
During the call, Zelenskyy also briefed Trump on Russia's attacks targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
"I appreciate his willingness to support us. We discussed opportunities to bolster our air defense, as well as concrete agreements that we are working on to ensure this. There are good options and solid ideas on how to truly strengthen us," he noted.
The President emphasized that Russia must be ready to engage in genuine diplomacy.
"This can be achieved through strength. Thank you, Mr. President!" Zelenskyy concluded.
Earlier today, October 11, Zelenskyy and Trump held a phone conversation.
On September 23, Zelenskyy met Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly and called the meeting productive.
Afterward, both leaders made several statements, with Zelenskyy noting he had received positive signals from Trump about supporting Ukraine.
