Zelenskyy to visit Ireland on his way to US

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy will arrive in Ireland today for a visit. He will then travel to the United States, The Guardian reports.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin, who canceled his visit to Belfast.
“Together with our EU partners, Ireland, will continue to build global support for comprehensive, just and lasting peace on Ukraine’s terms, which upholds Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and which is based on respect for the principles of the UN charter and international law,” said Thomas Byrne, Ireland's Minister of State for Europe and Defense.
Relations between Ukraine and Ireland
Ukraine and Ireland have friendly and partnership relations, which have intensified significantly since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022. Ireland strongly supports Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity by providing political, humanitarian, and financial assistance. Dublin has joined all EU sanctions against Russia and is actively helping Ukrainian refugees by providing them with temporary protection, housing, and social support.
Economic cooperation between the two countries is still limited but has prospects for growth. Ireland supplies medicines and humanitarian aid to Ukraine and invests in educational programs for Ukrainians. In addition, work is underway to strengthen trade ties, particularly in the agricultural and technology sectors.
Last September, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and Prime Minister of Ireland Simon Harris signed a bilateral agreement between the two countries.
